I am pleased to announce the launch of Triple-D Sampling, providing professional composers and serious hobbyists alike with high-quality and affordable software instruments. Music from the original play, “Emperor”, is now available to listen to. Emperor is the latest production from Twitches and Itches Theatre Productions (including Colin Anthes, the writer and performer of Ely and the Dragon). I composed a single track for this play, which is heard at the opening of the show. Click Here for the music

With all the different sounds available to a composer, it can be easy to find yourself reaching for massive forces of instruments to fill a piece. High-quality & large-sized samples libraries are more affordable and are usually inspiring to use, but a common conception of writing is that you need to have as many different sounds as you can to be inspired. On one hand, it may seem like limiting oneself to a single instrument is more difficult than freely using a great number of them; however, forcing yourself to a single sound source demands creativity to develop music of interest and variety.

Just for fun, here is a short clip of music that draws all its sounds from a single source – a drum strike. Everything you hear in the clip is made from various drum sounds. Through audio manipulation, rhythm, melody, and sound FX are all derived from this single source. Enjoy!
